These paintings reflect my love for the Nebraska landscape, especially the river valleys and their surrounding areas. Many hours and thousands of miles on country roads yield partial fruit in these images. My paintings have their roots in my search for meaning and purpose; it is a spiritual quest. The land, sky, and agricultural forms are metaphors, archetypes as old as history. I go to the country seeking order. The rigid geometry of farm fields and chaotic jumble of the natural landscape seem dissonant, but beneath the surface there is a broader harmony of cycles, seasons, and earth relinquishing nourishment to hungry roots. Here I find a never ending wellspring of inspiration, spiritual sustenance and transcendent beauty.
